One of my groups is holding a swap for these fabric cones that are to be made using Ruth Rae's instructions in one of the current magazines. I haven't joined the swap because I don't have the instructions, but I wanted to make one anyway, so this is my interpretation. I hand dyed the fabrics and laces to get that mauve-pinkish color and used cranberry thread to sew it all together.

This is absolutely gorgeous, and I really think you should join the swap - most of us don't have the magazine instructions, we're just winging it with visuals, just like you!
Of course, this piece is so beautiful, you probably don't want to give it up! Love it.
fabulos fabric cone !!!
Oh this is so awesome! You should join the swap! You did an awesome job without directions! :) Marva
Hello Charleen,
this is so lovely, I like the colors you used for the cone.
The picture of the small child is so sweet. It's a nice combination.
Love to see the things you'd made.

I dont think I could part with this either if I owned it - its absolutely beautiful, there are so many beautiful elements to it.
wow I love it!
What a wonderful piece!
Your cone is so beautiful, and it turned out to be much more like Ruth Rae's than the one I made. All of your work is wonderful and now I'm going to look some more.
Gorgeous cone! I took a part in this swap even though I didn't have instructions... it was a challenge but I'm happy I did it. Yours is just amazing :-)
I wondered how you joined your cone at the front? Did you have to hand stitch???
Carol, I used Fabri-Tac permanent adhesive and then used different lace and crochet pieces to cover the seam. This is quick drying and works very well for fabric and for adhering embellishments to fabric.
