Fabric Cone

One of my groups is holding a swap for these fabric cones that are to be made using Ruth Rae's instructions in one of the current magazines. I haven't joined the swap because I don't have the instructions, but I wanted to make one anyway, so this is my interpretation. I hand dyed the fabrics and laces to get that mauve-pinkish color and used cranberry thread to sew it all together.

Watercolor Pencils

I woke up this morning in a creative mood. I actually bought these pencils a couple of years ago and never really did anything with them. Well after reading a tutorial on using watercolor crayons, I dug up my pencils, wondering if they would be suitable for this technique. This was the results of my before breakfast playtime.

Post-It Note Book Covers

I got this fun little idea off of Sunflowers and Dragonflies blog. For my covers I just used some of my leftover printed material from other projects, which made it twice as easy to do, and it was a good way to use up some of my stash. These will make great little gifts for Happy Nothing Day! You know, the day when you want to give something, just to give something, and there's Nothing going on.

Egg Swap

I joined an egg swap on one of my groups, and because you only had to make three, I decided to make two different sets. They are the size of ATCs that have been cut to resemble eggs. It's not an Easter egg swap, just eggs.

Paper Bag Background Papers

I created these papers from brown grocery bags, and Elle Barry's instructions. I think the possibilities could be endless. You would only be limited by your lack of acrylic paint colors. The scans just don't show the real shimmer of these papers.

Junk Art Postcards

I joined a swap in which we were to make 5 postcards out of junk mail, old book pages, this and that, magazines etc. These are 3 of my offerings. I reworked 2 of them forgetting to scan the finished cards, but these will give you an idea of what I've been up too. Unfortunately it didn't put a dent in my junk pile. I'm thinking only the trash can will help that mess.

ATC's From Germany

I met Simone on line who is from Germany and we decided to trade fabric ATCs. These 2 above are my swap gift from her and they are very pretty. The lady on the red card is a fabric print that she made off of a 1917 postcard. She said that the writing on the back of the card was from a man asking a lady for a date. That the card comes with a story makes it even more interesting. The edging on that card is so tiny and perfect. The tiny shells on the beautiful card with the bird are pieces that her grandmother sends to her.

The cards at the top are my ATCs for her, but I can never get Blogger to do what I want and it seems like my pictures end up where ever Blogger feels like putting them. It's a continual battle for me.

This is my first trade from Germany and I will give them a special place in my art room. We plan on making another trade later in the year.

World Traveler

I created 22 of these green 3x3's for a swap I'm in on one of my groups. It's simply called the 3x3 Green Swap. The only requirement is that they are green. We are just sending to everyone in the swap individually and then we will add covers and bind them into a book.

Crazy Quilt Tote Bag

I finished this about a month ago and am finally getting pictures up. I had to photograph it on a dark surface and so it's really hard to see the straps. The dark brown you see

is actually the borders of the tote bag.

Dotee Dolls

Someone on one of my groups started talking about Dotee dolls and when I saw these silly little dolls I just had to start creating. On the day I finished making them I was beginning to wonder what I was going to do with them. Well on that same day another lady from a different group told everyone that there was this lady collecting small dolls 6" and under to send to women's shelters. She gave this link http://comfortdolls.blogspot.com where there is a wonderful story of what this lady is doing, and why she's doing it. There are lots of pictures of the dolls she is collecting and sending, and now my Dottee's have a reason for being created and will begin what I hope is a fasciniating journey for them.

Cell Phone Pouch

A lady asked me to created a cell phone pouch to hang off the front strap of her purse and this is what I came up with. The print is a cotton inkjet print with some silk ribbon embroidery and beading. The closure is a metal vintage button.

Beaded Art Dolls

I have been working on these beaded art dolls the last couple of weeks. Sometimes I wish that I could just concentrate on one thing, meaning one art form, but when I get bored with something it's so easy to start creating something else.

My True Love

The background of this 3x6 tag has been colored using walnut and alcohol inks and stamped. Embellishments include vintage crochet lace, buttons, velvet leaves and a hand embossed copper heart piece.

My Funny Valentine

Created for a Heart swap that I'm in. The only requirement for the ATC is that it have at least one heart on it.

Best Friends ATC

This is one of 10 ATCs that I created for a swap I'm in. The background was created using bubble wrap, gesso and watercolors. I've been so busy trying to get other things finished that I don't know if the other 9 will ever show up here.

Tag Art

I love tags and have been working on a few new ones this week. I know it seems like an odd assortment, but this is what I think my brain actually looks like at times and so I just go with it. I actually get more accomplished if I don't try to rationalize to much of my art.

Gothic Arch Trio Book

With all of the Gothic Arches on groups and the web, having never done one, I just decided to start playing to see what I could come up with.

Champagne Ice - Icicle Art Doll

I found the pattern for this doll on Belinda Schneider's Blog and just had to give it a try and see what I could come up with. The body is a layer of lace over satin. The face is stamped and the hair is hand beaded branch fringe. I used cream colored pearls and seed beads along with clear gold glass seed beads. I tried to add various embellishments to the doll, but for some reason I just liked the simplicity of her as she is.

Rusty "PARIS" Tin

I rusted this small approximately 2 x 2 1/4 inch tin and then embellished it with vintage images, faux rhinestones, lace, satin ribbon rose and metallic pieces.

Little Star - Altered Art Hanging

This small quilt is made from fabric, felt and paper. A layer of tulle covers the entire background and then it was embellished with lace, buttons, ribbon, crochet heart, a metallic word piece and silk flowers for altered art charm.
