Paste Papers

I made these paste papers last weekend before I went out to do yard work and talk about instant gratification. Each paper only took a couple of minutes to produce. I used the simple recipe on Lisa Vollrath's site, Go Make Something. Because I was in a hurry, I only used one color per page, but next time I''ll try 2 or 3 colors. I used 60 lb. paper from a cheap sketch pad and it seemed to work great. Next time I'll try a different weight paper to see what kind of results I get. When the papers were dry, I just ironed them between pieces of parchment paper. I will probably tear them to use for backgrounds and collages and maybe include pieces in fusion type papers. The tool at the top of the page was used to create these papers. Now I will have to be on the lookout for more tools.

Fabric Meander Book

I saw the design for this book on one of my fabric groups. The pages are decorated with various laces, ribbons, prints, beads, buttons, silk, velvet, printed, and crochet flowers, and of course lots of fibers. Metal embellishments were used on some of the pages. Instead of sewing the pages together I used eyelets and jump rings to fasten the pages. Each page measures 5"x5" and when the book is closed it stands 2 1/2" high. I sandwiched heavy felt between the front and back to give each page a soft puffy feel. SOLD

Gesso Art Squared 4x4

I have been busy with real life and haven't had much time to post lately, but I did manage to squeeze in another gesso piece, which is quickly becoming my favorite method of transferring.

Vintage Meg Gift

WOW! Another gift from my friend Esmeralda. I need to get more friends. Vintage Meg is a OOAK tiny hand felted bear that came with her own birth certificate and a tiny crochet hat. She has a tiny bee charm attached to her because we all know that bears love honey. She is a mere 2" tall when she's standing and 1 1/2" when she's sitting. I added the picture of her with her birth certificate, which is a standard size business card to give you an idea of just how tiny she is. She is so sweet and once again she will have the other place of honor in my art room.

I here that Esmeralda may start selling these tiny works of art, so if anyone is interested................

Friendship Doll Gift

I received this wonderful friendship doll from my friend Mary. It was a totally unexpected surprise, which is the best kind. The fabric is hand painted and so much more beautiful than my camera could capture. The face is hand drawn and Mary told me that there is a special hand made heart inside the doll. I love her and she will have a special place of honor in my art room.
